Abstract

This study was carried out to evaluate the previous studies conducted in Turkey and related to early geometry skills in pre-school education. In the study, which was organized as a methodological evaluation study, the data were obtained through document analysis method. The research was limited to 30 studies whose full texts are accessed from the Turkish National Thesis Center and Google Scholar databases published between 2000 and 2020. The full texts of the articles and theses were tried to be accessed by using the keywords "geometry in preschool period", "early childhood geometry", "early geometry skills", "geometric shape". The data obtained within the scope of the research were analyzed and discussed according to criteria such as the type of scientific studies, the year of publication, the language, the university, the subject, research design, research method, sampling type, and data collection tools. When the documents were analyzed, it was determined that there were a limited number of Turkish studies on the subject. It has been observed that most of the thesis studies belong to the year 2010 and beyond. Recommendations were made to field experts and educators regarding the results obtained from the study.
